Animals and plants
Due to their endangerment and distribution all over Europe many plant and animal species have been adopted into the annexes of the Habitats Directive. They are called “FFH species”, with 282 of these species occurring in Germany. The birds are registered in a separated list (Wild Birds Directive). In Germany 190 bird species of this list have been found.
In the Rhine valley between Wintersdorf und Karlsruhe so far 27 FFH species and 19 species of the Wild Birds Directive have been mapped. Here you find attractive pictures, short information on these species and hints regarding their occurrence. Perhaps you can see firsthand one of these or other plant and animal species in the Rhine floodplain!
