Habitats
In Germany there are 91 different habitat types which are the focus of the Special Areas of Conservation (SAC) according to the Habitats Directive. The SACs have been identified in order to preserve these seriously threatened habitat types at European level. Fourteen of these habitat types are occurring in the floodplains of the river Rhine near Rastatt. The habitat types are mainly influenced by standing or running waters, supplemented by different meadows and forests of European importance.
